EMC Laboratory Supervisor
Gpac is partnered with a reputable manufacturer that is seeking an EMC Laboratory Supervisor. The EMC Laboratory Supervisor will lead the EMC engineering team to success through technical oversight of testing services, research, and day-to-day lab activities. They will supervise the development of test plans, testing and troubleshooting, result analysis, and the preparation of technical documentation according to the company’s Quality Assurance (QA) program. They will also work with other departments, including the software development team, to enhance EMC testing and reporting capabilities.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Run the day-to-day operations of the EMC laboratory.
- Supervise and coordinate scheduling and budgeting to ensure set departmental goals are achieved.
- Work with the contracts department for time and effort estimates of EMC projects
- Review and approve test plans and procedures.
- Manage Lab and R&D projects.
- Perform expert-level EMI/RFI troubleshooting and noise mitigation for emissions and immunity failures.
- Analyze equipment and test results to provide justifications when troubleshooting is not possible.
- Communicate and interface regularly with clients on project progress and technical consultation.
- Streamline EMC test plan and report development.
- Work with software developers to enhance EMC testing and reporting capabilities.
- Oversee internal and external calibrations of EMC test equipment.
- Identify EMC research and development (R&D) needs and write proposals.
- Work closely with the EMC Engineering Manager to develop new commercial products and services.
- Conduct regular technical training and courses for both internal team members and industry professionals.
- Travel occasionally to lead and perform field service testing at customer facilities, including national and international nuclear facilities.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other Engineering and five years of experience in a related field.
- Three or more years of management experience with teams and technical services.
- Experience performing MIL-STD-461 and/or IEC 61000 series of emissions and immunity tests.
- Knowledge of spectrum analyzers, EMI receivers, oscilloscopes, RF amplifiers, and vector network analyzers.
- Experience developing EMC test plans and test reports.
- Knowledge of EMC equipment calibrations and measurement uncertainty analysis.
